Purpose of the Foundation
'The purpose of the Foundation is to develop, sponsor and administer those sites in the Free State of Saxony that are evocative of heinous political crimes having particular historical significance and implications extending beyond the region, of political persecution, of state terror and state-organised murders. The Foundation shall commemorate the victims of political tyranny and the resistance to the dictatorships and shall document the structures and methods of the respective systems of government for the public.' (§ 2, paragraph 1 of the Saxon Memorial Act)
