'The purpose of the society shall be to sustain in honour the remembrance of the victims of National Socialism and Stalinism in the former regional court and to participate in critically appraising and overcoming the crimes committed in Dresden by National Socialism (1933-1945), the Soviet occupying forces (1945-1950) and the SED regime (1950-1956). The society supports the design, maintenance and administration of the Münchner Platz Memorial so as to ensure its effective public appeal in accordance with the current state of historical research.'
